This may be a little late, but may help someone someday.<br>On some installs, the eth interface gets renamed during booting, such that the default eth0 becomes eth1 (or some other number). Running &quot;dmesg | grep eth&quot; will usually point this out - error message like &quot;...eth0 renamed to eth2...&quot;.<br>

If that is the case, changing eth0 to eth1 (or whatever) in the interface file, then restarting networking, sorts things out. However, you have to do this after each reboot.<br>I have yet to figure out what causes/caused that particular headache.<br>
