Incidentally I hear Eastman Kodak developed a digital camera in the 70s but shelved it due to the profitable film business.

You can never say never in technology.

Apple is great by any standards, and their fall is not on the horizon. For a company of their size growing almost above 50% is just impressive.

It is just less than 15 years ago when Microsoft was so formidable that even the US Government feared them.

But why I use RIM is because their fall has been so spectacular and has happened fast in a span of less than 2 years. From a market leader to nobody so quickly is just sad.

The tragedy of RIM is they saw all the signs but continued to ignore them. The rise of smartphone with all touch interface should have had them innovating, but they stuck to the keyboard for a tad too long.

The only other company I recall that failed so spectacularly in an industry they pioneered is the now bankrupt Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester, NY.
