I think we are all missing the point here: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A DOG ? A person who acquires a dog appoints the dog as the official whistle blower incase of trespass at night. Otherwise, why would I acquire a dog ? I know very few dogs would tear a trespasser apart [because the common breeds are way smaller than the average Kamau] - lakini i would most definately want it to bark to scare or alert. Which raises the point .. What exactly are the city council suggesting with the by-law ? 1) May be we should train our dogs to whisper barks when they spot an intruder or the brat next door who throws them stones 2) or May be we should train them to knock on the door X number of times for "intruder alert" or N number of times for "casual moon barking" or just kawaida neighboring dogs routine ping exercise.
