Apple stopped shipping Macbook Pros without SSDs some time ago so you're going to have a tough time getting 500GB+ unless it's been modded or somebody paid alot upfront for a pretty hefty upgrade to a large SSD.  

I would personally recommend 256GB SSD and you can always do external thunderbolt or USB drives.
