KRA are monster as said above Usually, it's 25% of value item (import fee) + 16 % VAT on total amount. e.g. if your item is valued at 1000 USD, then fee will be 250 USD. Then add 16% of 1250 USD = 200 USD. So total fee is 450 USD ! Hope you get it ! But this applies to standard items, I have no idea regarding computers... Do they still fall in 0% VAT ? Agree with the above, you will realise that electronics/PC are much cheaper from local retailers than abroad (ebay included). If it's a second hand PC, then you can try to reduce value of item... or ask the guy to who you bought it to reduce value item in declaration form If it's new, ask the guy to scratch it, drop some paint on it and add old stickers so that it looks old :) @Mwangi - I don't think so !!
