Is it that M-PESA charges KES 1.00 for every balance check? I just noted that my balance decreases by a bob every time I do a query.

Yes, M_Pesa and Zap charge one shilling for every balance check.

What if the balance is ZERO ?

With M-Pesa and Zap, the response will be an errror!
