KENIC, Just buy an external cert, just like Daudi advises. On Mon, Jul 19, 2010 at 11:55 AM, Daudi Were <daudi.were@gmail.com> wrote:
I am thinking that most people going to KENIC website would mostly be those who have enough technical knowledge to discern what a self-signed certificate is. I suppose KENIC needs a commercial certificate, signed by Thawte (because it's African by descent):-)
Washington I disagree. KENIC should not expect most people going to their website to have "enough technical knowledge to discern what a self-signed certificate" is. That, in my opinion, is ridiculous because on the one hand we can not have KENIC and all .ke supporters (me included) wanting the number of .ke domains to increase while at the same time not recognising that it is a BIG problem that when people go to find out where to register those domains they are greet with a warning advising them to go away from the website. Suddenly it seems safer to have a myblog.com or mycompany.comthan myblog.co.ke or mycompany.co.ke.
Unless we expect everyone who wants a .ke domain to hire a Skunk to navigate the technical mine fields for them? Why would they bother?
