I can vouch for HP business laptops...currently using one and had 2 others over the years and I can say these machines are durable and have good resale value. Battery life is reliable - steady and doesn't drain over the months like some Dell A8xx laptops I used 2 yrs back

As for HP dv series I haven't owned one...maybe I prefer function over form... :)
