I used it once - like 2 yrs ago - and it almost felt like a Linux distro because of the Gnome environment and Bash but found it to be a bit slow so i ditched the thing and never came back to it (wasn't sticky enough).
It might benefit you to know that OpenSolaris appears to be dead and maybe Oracle is thinking of making Solaris proprietary again.
