The KRA Slogan is : "WE HAVE IT TAKES, TO TAKE WHAT YOU HAVE GOT" Crooks ! I was lucky that there was an error in shipment when I tried to import a phone last year, the DHL service delivered the package to me before the KRA/Customs officials got wind of it. Then they called me, two months later - telling me to pay 11k, for a phone worth Ksh. 6000 [including shipment]. I told them to go rot in pieces [?]! Why should I pay for a single item that is a gift, further more, the value of tax is higher than the value of the good. They told me that they will keep the phone. I told them to keep it ! <they thought they had it> 4 months later, they were still calling asking for the 11k [including keepers fee] - I told them that it will do them good to try and auction the phone and see if they can actually fetch the 11k they are asking for... If they were to fetch more, they could pay me the difference [?] ! In short, for many of us, the taxes are very unjustified [41%] - and this tax is usually waived if you know someone inside. This is not justice.
