I think time will tell, but Nokia did make the right decision to stick with M$ as Windoze tablets are going to be the real threat to the iPad in the enterprise! ./Ok3ch On Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 8:36 AM, Stephen <ndungustephen@gmail.com> wrote:
Lemme paste an extract from a reader (with regards to Nokia going Android) that I think makes sense: There are alot of’ Android fans who like Nokia’s HW, but you have to look at the bigger picture here. Nokia chose WP as their platform for a number of reasons. 1) They get preferential treatment from MS. 2) Nokia has a huge mapping system that would be in direct competition with Google Maps which is another reason why Google wouldn’t lift a finger to assist them. 3) If they chose a multiplatform strategy they’d just dilute their efforts and not be the “best” on either platform. 4) There is just far too much competition in Android to make a profit with Samsung dominating that market’s mindshare. Just ask HTC, LG, and every other manufacturer how well its going, even Google’s own Motorola. (remember Sony and Huawei are in here too) 5) All of these guys are looking to diversify into not just phones, but tablet and the like. If Nokia could obtain a special partnership with MS they could get into the most coveted sector… THE ENTERPRISE and sell complete end to end solutions for tablets and phones with their customized software (watch out HP, Dell, and Lenovo they are coming).
Android tablets so far have no real incentive for the enterprise and if you go with Windows, you’re almost guaranteed a shot at it.
