Hi guys,
Thanks for your input.
@Okechukwu, did they say why you need help from an insider?
@ Jangita, the decoder and smartcard are linked. What implications/relevance does this statement have?
"by the way, as per making the smart cards etc you have to talk to DSTV guys. "
Cheers.

Whoa...that info is very educative! Is there a way to return the
settings to original config or we need to note them down somewhere
before doing some tinkering here and there ;)? What did you mean by
mess?
I don't think you can brick it; I have read around and its good to update the firmware first from the official DSTV satellites, then note them down and start tinkering. There aren't any default settings. The decoder is sort of a standard mpeg digital decoder with the added smart card and pointed to DSTV beams; add a hard disk and you have a PVR. Worst case scenario you can call the DSTV guys who hopefully will be able to set it up again for you.
I have been REALLY trying to tinker with the now useless GTV decoder to see any way that some money can be made (bring in your GTV decoder and subscribe to my services :) ) still tinkering, anyone with some knowledge? karibu.
