@George

The OS as far as i'm concerned is beautiful. It is so aesthetically pleasing, it caught my eye almost instantly, i sat and toyed with it and yes, it was smoother than XP or W2k. My issue is not in line with the AV. It started with a few glitches with the Video Card albeit it's an on board VGA. Whilst typing using MS Word i heard a rather chilling scream from the room below with my name repeated frantically. For a moment there i thought someone had broken in to the house only to get to the study and find my mother worried looking at a rapidly flickering screen.

Kind of unnecessary and it didn't happen in earlier versions. This was an updated VGA driver from MS on the auto update function, granted things like this shouldn't bother many people, it's a "usual" thing. However, why put up with it?

It's not happened to me when i use Suse, or RH, or Fedora. Why Windows? why does something happen to the product from a Fortune 500 Company?

The OS is used on almost 80% of desktops around the world.

@Ledermann ReactOS seems like something i'd try. Moving my parents ( 60+ in age ) to a different system from Windows 7 seems a bit.. cruel. They for the first time said. They Like it.
I'd like to think they're kind of like my clients. I'd rather get them satisfied with what they have at my expense and see them happy over get them upset because i changed things too much.

I will still try out ReactOS.

I'm more interested in making the blooming OS work for me. Not the other way around. Feels like i'm working with the Kenyan GOV"T!

Watchman.
