I figured that not all base stations have the 3g signal, so the signal is not as strong if you are far away from a base station that has it. So all you need to do is make sure that you find a location where you get as many bars on your modem as possible and make sure your modems stays there. You can use a USB extension cable to achieve this. That worked for me.
