
@aki, If ISPs could purchase 155Mbps because the clients need upto 155Mbps(not even factoring in the fact that Overhead bytes offer a payload roughly 140 Mbits/sec as @john says which I agree),the ISPs willnot be in business.Some ISPs TRULY offer dedicated bandwidth but they also capitalise on the fact that not all clients use up all their capacity at the same time,so they can comfortably balance their traffic + other traffic being local through IXP,makes them in business.
