To enjoy the climb, get fit. Daily running is best. I have climbed Mt Kenya when unfit and when fit, I highly recommend getting fit (and not just for the climb...)

It will be a miserable experience if you run out of air easily. Make sure you can run at least at 5 miles an hour without struggling to breath.
,,k.p?louuPUGpWalk / run alot. If you are not used to walking long distance, your legs will pain easily due po to lactic acid on the muscles. If working out is a long lived thing in your daily habit, your muscles have learned to deal with it and you will have a pleasant time.
Get a winter shoe and wear it till it get comfortable. Nothing horrible as taking a long walk in a shoe you have yet to break into.
Wear warm water proof clothes. The place rain a lot and its miserable to be cold and wet
Happy hiking!

Dear skunks, Has anyone here climbed Mt. Kenya and can provide practical suggestions on what to do and not do or have?
A friend of a friend of a friend wants to start checking items off his bucket list.
Any and all information will surely be appreciated by the aforementioned distant friend of mine :-)
