Maybe not... i dont know about this particular service -- but Zain have a similar thing which I have seen some NGOs using in the field. Its basically SMS without 160 char limitations -- you can send long SMS which gets transformed to email. The carrier charge (if i recall correctly ) irrespective of length was that of a single sms.

If the cost is as you mention, it makes sense for those travelling outside data coverage areas. The last I heard, even Loki is covered by Safaricom Edge. Then there is the issue of screen size and memory limitations on not so smart handsets? What target market is the app seeking? A value added service for the business sector or the general kenyan public? If anyone has used the app, pls update on costs. Rgds.
