Mich,
Does Thunderbird store in Maildir format?
Nope unfortunately MBOX. However, since i have a habit of filtering emails into seperate folders. Thunderbird creates an MBOX for each folder and that sort of scales for now.
There is really no good reason why the user whose taken me this far is using Outlook. It should be easy to migrate the user to another MuA, given that even the backend they access is Dovecot. They can use Windows (no suitable replacement known - not to them, I swear).
Am quite sure that most MTA's, POP3 and IMAP servers will support Maildir - unless its still in the dark ages and there are still afew anyways. Dovecot is a great choice.
Am always a sucker for courier imap..
Try evolution for windows.
Mutt works beautifully too.. My current setup is Incoming mail: IMAP(StartTLS)->fetchmail->procmail->FS/Maildir dirs Outgoing mail: Mutt -> Postfix -> World With vim as my editor and vim bindings... It's a pretty world!
