well, on Red Hat distros we have the standard reduced repos (DRPMs) which only contain the difference between two RPMs but am not sure if they do have accelartors. also thought of integrating Aria2c into yum(ex). On 2 September 2010 13:08, Simon Mbuthia <simon.mbuthia@gmail.com> wrote:
Mr. Mugo,
You seem to have worked with yum. I am an apt-get guy (Debian) and I use apt-fast on my home PC (http://bit.ly/aeTsAy) which integrates apt and axel (download accelerator) to boot download speeds when using apt. I was just wondering if there is such a script for yum as there is for apt-get.
When I get time to learn bash scripting, I'll write one if it doesn't exist... and CopyLeft it :)
Lemmi know what you know

The problem might not be in the .repo files
Try cleaning up your yum cache and then update your repositories before attempting any installations in this fashion;
yum clean all yum makecache
Also, check out the man page for yum and include options that could help

Not been a yum user [:( ] and am having trouble configuring the .repo files for the right yum repositories. I've installed the priorities plugin for extra flexibility but keep on getting this not using ftp, http[s], or file for repos, skipping - Test mode - must specify ip/cc, arch and repo as parameters wherever i do a yum install (save for a yumex install which went well, below is a copy of my .repos, i wonder what im doing wron or not doing right
Help or pointing in the right direction is highly appreciated! Thanks b4 HaNd
