@ Chitwa...Trying to find these will cost u time n money.. what i do is just buy the exact same drive.. or I cannot get it at all.. i move the platters to an equivalent drive size with similar number of platters n read heads then perform the recovery .. this is excruciatingly a pain in the ass. bt hell i do it.
Bt doesnt mean i wont look for them. let me contact you once I get any of them.. The WD i think i can find soon...

I know its PCB coz thats what I fried. Although if anything else fried then I can arrange from there. Could you kindly give me prices for PCBs for Western Digital WD1600AABS (160GB SATA) and Maxtor DiamondMax23 STM3320418AS (320GB)

@ Chitwa... yea PCB's can be replaced if the harddisk is being undetected or it looks obviously fried and the hard drive is not powering. If its a motor seizure or stuck actuators n heads.. then we need to move platters using a multiple platter exchanger.

Well well!
How about fried PCBs? Can they be replaced?

Click of death.. Its only possible to fix it by moving the platters to a working harddrive or a recovery box. What u hv to do now i scan the top side of the Harddisk n send it to me. If i get a donor harddrive i will contact u..

Ur disk problem might hv been a result of either power interferance, Either u dropped it, or if its a seagate might be a problem with the magneting coating used on the platters that is chipped. Thank.

Hi Skunks,

I have a 500GB Toshiba portable hard-disk with the following symptoms
  1. Clicking noises  whenever i plug it in to my computer
  2. I cant feel the hard-disk spin after i plug it in
  3. it cannot be detected in either windows or linux OSes (obviously)
Assuming it has a hardware problem, is there anyone or any company who can recover the data it contains?

Regards
H
