Good you mentioned that, i had to switch to serial COM port where port doesn't keep changing eg ttyS0/1/2 etc

@Jeremy, i think for your need GAMMU/KALKUN/Serial modem would work. You don't need to code much like i did in-order to send  to and from emails

I just saw the interface improved on 0.7 - check it out.

My preference has always been kannel, its simple to configure and run. I have not had field days with gnokii though so I cannot give a healthy comparison.
