The lazy bone in me normally just installs the NIC Driver to enable me access the internet. Thereafter I enable automatic updates..... voila! I've used this on a Toshiba machine numerous times. The good thing with this is that my Windows 7 installation somehow fetches all drivers that I need, devoid of those pesky Vendor Specific utilities that I rarely use.
