Start flying Emirates everywhere! A few minutes after take off, they announce officially that you are free to use your mobile phones "to surprise someone", and you get excellent network coverage! Oh, sorry, maybe Emirates don't fly down South:-)

I always wondered how cell phones really interfered with a plane's instrumentation. Does it switch off all the navigation controls such that aplane going to say, South Africa ends up @ Migingo? Doesn't the phones on business class operate as cellphones? Whoever came up with that idea really wasn't convincingly smart, IMHO!
When I was going to Mozambique the other day via SAA, we were told to quickly switch off our cellphones once the plane was taxiing(?)! And all the way to my destination and back, the phone was off.
