It may be largest but how active is it? Like you said, maybe it is only in Kenya that it hasn’t caught up.

 

I however believe that the 1.6b [citation needed] are “forced” subscriptions which were done not by choice.

 

For example, one needs a G+ account just to comment on a YouTube video.

 

Am pretty sure a G+ account tags along any Gmail activation. Don’t get me started on android device numbers.

I must admit to a little head-scratching at first, because it initially there seemed to me to be some G+ overlap here. But after playing with a bit, it's clear that this is something more akin to some mashup between Google Groups functionality and a bit of Google+ look and feel. This is going to be great for document sharing of Google Docs. 

I have created a test skunkworks group for a few early adopters to join and see how this works in a groups setting.
