Make is the name of the *maker* and model is a description of the *version*
of device that the maker has produced. By the model you can determine year
of manufacture, type(s) of technology incorporated in the device, features
etc relatively easily.

For example, my first mobile phone was a Nokia 5110 - the last Nokia I
owned was a Nokia E5; in between the two I probably had about 12-15 Nokia
handsets (different models). Point being, the difference in terms of
features/capabilities/technologies was phenomenal.

Therefore if I'm trying to sell a device (as the author of this thread
intended) I will try to give as much technical detail or at a minimum, the
make *and* model so that anyone interested can do their own further
research and determine whether or not the device suits them.
