@denis
The prob I have is, udev recognizes the devices alright, and lsusb gives the correct ID, my woe is that it lists them as usbdev* in /dev (in centos5,) all of which seem to be false identifiers / paths when i try an AT on them or a simple cat /dev/usbdev* this way You cant make use of the modems either for net or sms.
Thus I tried the mod_switch, some variants would this way force me to drop mass storage [4 wvdial] and also fail to place the right path as directed in udev....
my q is thus whether thereis a workaround, either to match the dev ID to a knowm path eg /dev/modem without compromising gsm/gprs ..... or this distro iko shida
Thanks

But the current Linux Kernel and GnomePPP seem to have good support for this modems?or you need software for the cards? https://forge.betavine.net/frs/?group_id=12
