Couple of things that you may want to consider:
  1. What is your target market? If you are targeting Kenya go for Android.There are so many guys with Android phones in this market and the number is growing fast because of the IDEOS.
  2. Budget - as mentioned if you choose to go with iOS you need a mac .
  3. Your skills or the availability of good developers for the platform you choose  . I think its easier to get a Java/Android Devs in Kenya than to get an Objective-C developer.
