talking of natural resources, ins't co.ke a unique and easy to remember domain ending. am sure someone in the states would find that amusing? 2009/8/28 Ashok Hariharan <ashok@parliaments.info>
there was a thread sometime back on high cost of .co.ke domains because of volumes / the money is used to fund KENIC etc ...
here is an idea i hope someone at KENIC can make use of :
presently it isnt possible to buy <my domain name>.ke (only <my domain>.co.ke ... or <my domain>.or.ke ...).
if KENIC allowed purchase of secondary TLDs i.e. <my domain name>.ke they could actually ask for higher prices for certain domain names :
e.g. --- http://mi.ke (i am sure there are many Mikes in the world willing to pay good money for that domain) --- http://clar.ke , http://broo.ke
apart from names there are english words ending with ke ... :
--- http://li.ke http://ba.ke (some bakery i guess ?) http://sna.ke
Here is a time article from 1999 (about the nation of tonga who marketed the .to tld ..... by 1999 they had sold 17,000 domains at $100 / 2years ... thats already 17 million dollars back in 1999 ...when the dollar was actually worth something )
