So do you guys think that Michael Schumacher was the Stig or it was just a public relations campaign by the BBC? On Wed, Jun 24, 2009 at 12:59 PM, Areba Collins <arebacollins@gmail.com>wrote:
2.5 Liter as indicated above is the total engine volumetric capacity. It means that when the engine runs, it "ingests" an air / fuel mixture of 2,500ml for a complete cycle. (where all the cylinders have fired.).
The Terminologies? This means power output will vary depending on the efficiency of the engine, which basically means how much more power the vehicle can generate with a certain quantity of fuel. Which is where the technologies like VVTI, EFI and Carburettor compete, - trying to generate as much power as possible.
Power output? a 2.5 liter engine will give varied power output depending on the fuel injection technique, Keeping the fuel constant and varying the technology will enable you to determine that carb , EFI, VVTI will be the order of efficiency. Meaning that for a fixed engine capacity, you MAY get more mileage from a VVTI than an EFI, than carb. Similarly, you may get more mileage from a 2.5l efi than a 3.0 l carb because it is efficient.
Other Factors: Once the engine power is dealt with, we are left contending with the vehicle baggage. Weight, aerodynamic properties, tyre and road conditions and so on and so forth.
Conclusion? Get the car, fill it up and drive along mombasa road untill you run out of fuel. noting the readings on the odometer. youll get to know the consumption and compute your kilometers per liter.
Also, engine condition, rings , oil, efficiency ...e.tc have an effect on overall efficiency.

Pls do not forget to factor in the weight of the car, top speed, aerodynamics, tyre size. Also consider whether deflectors are being used and spoilers are installed, top speed, etc etc.

Once again thank you all for your contributions. If i get to geneticaly modify my kales & amaranthus to mature in 3 weeks, I'll need the speed

Since you said you watch top gear, there is an episode they were actually testing farm machinery on a farm where they were growing plants for

Now I think I can "see" what stuff skunks would be discussing during their social evenings:-)
