Good morning Aki,
I am yet to confirm the exact time we hope to start using the
new generation modems. But there already discussions in that light and we hope
by the end of Q1 we will have a good indication of when this can happen.
Regards,
Collins

Thanks for the feedback and patience. I just saw the specs
of the iBurst Bridge and uplink is similar to 3g. Great stuff, am almost sold
on the concept and someone will be intouch offlist asap.
A general comment. Queen Bee has dropped bamba pre-paid rates
and has just made it as affordable as when Orange 3g+ was on the Ksh1/Mbyte
service. So for Ksh 4000/- I can get 4GB of data, while I hear their unlimited
is not doing too badly except that the maximum package is 128kbps. Tariffs
on new Prepaid Rates offer : http://www.safaricom.co.ke/index.php?id=245
So you guys at AFOL have some competition ahead but the
advantage that you hold is that of service reliability as your network is
optimized for data and not shared with voice. Finally @Collins, when do AFOL
move to the newer 2Mbps/700kbps iburst network version?
Cheers.

Good morning Aki,
I hope that you are well. My apologies
for the very late response.
1) The modem is at 50% off so it now costs
KES 7,000 + VAT
2) If you already have a modem, our CRM
team will check to see if there is any outstanding balance on the account tied
to the modem. If there is no balance then you will just need to pay for the
service and your account is activated.
3) We have uncapped 512kbps at the moment
going for KES 7999 + VAT and uncapped 1Mbit service going for KES 15999+VAT
4) For these two above packages, the
minimum for the 512kbps is normally between 250kbps and 300kbps at peak times
and during off peak times normally bursts to over 700kbps. For the 1Mbit
service the lowest speed during peak times is 350kbps and at off peak times
then the speed gets to around 900kbps.
5) We do not prioritize our traffic. So if
you have good signal strength then you should have no problem either uploading
or downloading stuff.
6) I have attached a pdf document of the
Iburst modem/technology specifications
I hope I have adequate addressed all
your questions. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me in case you have
any further questions. Good day.

Collins
