Go to big-boards.com and see what kind of membership and traffic the forums command. Just our neigbours here in Tanzania are having www.jamiiforums.com and you will never find less than 1,500 people logged in. Ask them for a rate card you see what you are sent.
If you go to Dar es salaam you get they have even billboards near the CBd and close to teh airport. South Africa also the same.
And vbulletin is such a powerful tool in these forums because its fully supported by a dedicated community at vbulletin.org
Traffic is money whether adsense or adbrite or simple advertising
And if its hard then we can have our own Mashable which will cater for the regions online community
