I wish you had mentioned that the SAT/WASC/SAFE (West African cable) bombed coz South Africa Telkom (as the main managers) charged ISP's exhorbitant rates which forced the ISPs to revert to satellite. This was the main reason we decided to go our own way with TEAMS. You have rightly pointed out that essential components are not yet in place. It is however not possible to wait for society to catch up, it has to be prompted. My basic premise is quite simple - Kenyans are not averse to technology. Infact the mobile telephony boom is evidence enough. It is up to us ICT professionals to be creative and innovative with the infrastructure that the fibre-optic will provide. Technology must solve our society's problems if it is to be 'revolutionary'. That is what mobile telephony has being doing and is what IT should do.
