@Calvin

Also...your signature reads 'Sent from my Blackberry'. Tomorrow it might read 'Sent from my iPad'. What if your bills were sent to all these smart devices instead of Posta? Wouldn't that be better than even getting it delivered by a bike man? No delays and you can also print them if you like! For my grandmother who lives closer to the mountains than you would ever imagine and is also illiterate, we can retain the letter delivery to her by the chief as we think of a solution! :)

Let me move you away from this discussion a bit so that I explain what I mean. Once upon a time, Apple did away with flash on their devices despite the fact that it was the 'de facto' leading technology in online video delivery. People talked...and talked ....and talked...but Apple maintained it's stand. As we speak(or type), even Adobe the creator of flash is abandoning flash for html5. Not many hours ago, Apple said they are doing away with ethernet and optical drives since they consider them 'old technology'. Do yo know what people will do? Talk some more then start adapting to the change! Moral of the story, start changing and people will change with you! Remain stagnant and 30 years from now you(or your favourite grandchild) will be getting printed bills from the (only)remaining post office in Nairobi!

as far as I see it, printing will have been done, whether it is delivered or not, so the approach of digitizing is just an additional "weak point" , Im thinking contracts for signing, newspaper subscriptions and a host of documents that are being fossilized by technology, it wont last long. Lets look at the potentially large "clients"...

KPLC : 5554, pay via mpesa.
Water CO: same as above.
Bank Statements: Online / Mobile text / at the ATM.

what else remains? that Ipad ive ordered from ebay? good luck digitizing that....

As someone said, only way posta is surviving is evolve into something that needs a physical branch network...

Yes true, our aim through this solution would be reduce physical mails and not reduce email communication. Even after email being in this world for more than 10 years still physical mails are being sent.. And I am sure there should be a reason for this.

Exactly! Why would a company send a letter which has to be converted into 'digital mail' so that I can receive it allegedly from anywhere? Why not just send it in PDF(or any other format) straight to my inbox and save the time used in the conversion? In my opinion, the only way Posta will remain relevant is by transitioning itself into a proper courier e.g let me buy stuff on Amazon and get the option of sending it to Kenya via Posta in addition to DHL! We are moving forward with technology, not backwards!

The overriding factor is atleast everybody who needs mails in digital format should have an email access, this will enable him/her to easily receive all the digital mails, I remember back in the 00s I sed to access my emails from the local post office that had a cyber like environ this died with advent of private cybers. This can still be achieved

My 2 cents
