I have used the D-LINK outdoor series (2700AP and others) and they are pretty good and if you throw in an omni-directional antenna and mount the whole system it a central location outside, coverage can exceed 500 metres.
You can interconnect many of these as a bridge and increase the coverage that you want. They are also hardy, I have used one for more that 2 years without a single failure.
They a bit expensive though and the cheaper indoor ones do not perform well.

I have a project to network some houses. These are in some sort of "villa" setup, with trees all around, if that matters. It's somewhere in the bundus but I already have Internet there. I'd like not to lay cables at all as that is so much work:)
I'd like to deploy a WLAN so I am looking for an equipment that can transmit a strong signal within a radius of 500metres (max range, actually).
I mentioned the trees just in case they may interfere with the signal - just in case. I am no expert in that area.
Does someone know of an equipment that is good enough for such a project, yet not so expensive. If it doesn't have to be mounted outdoor the better, but still I am okay with it if it has to use an outdoor antennae. I suppose the antennae should be omnidirectional.
The equipment can be either an AP or Router.
Which equipment suppliers do I talk to?
