Mark, Your assumption on subscriber behaviour in Kenya is wrong. CDMA technology has practically failed to pick up locally. At some point when network congestion was all the hype, Telkom's CDMA network had impressive KPI stats, but that never translated into any gains in terms of subscriber numbers. That aside, Telkom's CDMA network embarrassingly lacks some common basic services (some, due to technological limitations). The subscriber numbers have drastically fallen in spite of the phasing out of fixed lines. PS : I have maintained a personal Telkom CDMA line since the inception of the service to date.
