@washington: I think you have raised some very important points... This has also made me wonder about M-pesa and so on...will I maintain the same Safaricom SIM card or will I be issued with an Airtel SIM card... Oh my, I can foresee a lot of confusion on April 1st (which is also conveniently April Fools day) I personally think at the end of the day people will move to the cheapest network, even it it is cheaper by 50cts. And don't forget our "peculiar calling habits" Timo. On 3/17/11, Shadrack Mwaniki <shadrack_mwaniki@yahoo.com> wrote:
Been there done that too. But will be interesting to watch the migrations.
I see Kenyans taking the famous "serengeti<->masai mara wildbeest migration" to the new levels in Telecoms now I Propose we call it "The great mobilee migration".
Which side will be the breeding grounds i wonder? and what will be "crossing the crocs invested mara river?
Its wait and see!

im sticking around, those pleasant chaps from sales bought me tea at serena, showed me a couple of slideshows on MPLS and cloud and promised to give a datacenter like.no.other on thika road, they also showed me their affordable video conferencing solution (USD500 per hour) where i had a chance to chat with a pleasant looking lady at kampala in real time, with nice voice sensitive cameras showing such detail (imaaaaaagine).
now, unless zain waves something else at me (not just lower "prices"), ill stick around.

Oh...you mean I am already in Airtel with my 0722 prefix?
Does this mean that from 1st I will just cross the road quietly from Safaricom to Airtel?
