Here’s a to-do list that we should start with; 1. Determine whether the kits are reprogrammable – Listing common Makes & models with in-dash GUI kits. 2. Source for the complete hardware kit from a write-off and/or write to one of the Japanese manufacturers requesting for a in-car GUI prototype on a research and development basis – with the aim of providing a more functional (and, understandable) in-dash GUI for X-Japan imports to Kenya, hoping they agree (after signing a million and one non-disclosure agreements). 3. Project OpenDashibodi kick-off – bringing together the bunch of local open source developers we’ve been ranting about. Eventually, we can have the ushahidi team develop an API for it…. I’m sure a number of NGOs would like their SUVs equipped with such a tool, and the rest we can leave to our brothers and sisters out to make a quick-kill to figure out what to do with it, but not before throwing a big OpenDashibodi party. :-)
