I've looked at the pre-installed specs for HP 2530 and HP 6530 and HP seems to only provide the recovery manager on vista platform. On machines with recovery manager ( as also with Toshiba ) is provided so that you create the system images when the laptops are newly purchased. One can rebuild incases you mention below. I believe this discussion is an important one and a guide to potential buyers.

what if one cannot access the recovery console or if the hard disk drive has crashed and you need to replace the drive with a new one. On hps 2530 and 6530, the console does not give you and option for creating recovery discs unlike on older systems.
