@Kiti, would you mind explaining a bit more tech how you "*I offload a lot of my traffic to CDN's and free/relatively cheap cache servers*"?
I have always assumed, wrongly it seems, that CDN = Akamai = Lots of $$
And does pulling jquery + jquery ui from Google count?

This has been my experience so far on linode:
I have been hosting about 5 medium traffic apache/php /mysql apps for over 3 years now plus a couple of low traffic html websites as well as hosting three .NETv3.5 web apps( using Mono) on the same platform. I also have some GIT repos(replacing SVN repos) as well as syncing my dropbox to the box. in between have manged to host redmine(ruby on rails) , and SVN.
In terms of bandwith, have rarely exceeded 60% of the quota, but have lots of read/write operations on the server from background daemons. Naturally, I offload a lot of my traffic to CDN's and free/relatively cheap cache servers.
I am on the standard linode1024 plan running debian 6.0
