Bought my home theatre in 2000 and till now not changed anything aside from the TV and the DVD machine. I have 5.1 surround JBL speakers with a total PMPO of 10000-watt peak that gives a bone crunching thump. Got Harmon Kardon amp with it and believe you me that gear still kicks ass! Have a great day!
