Hi Guys, I do use Open Source stuff but frankly, their licences confuse me. Can someone break it down for me please (yeah, I know there is Google, wikipedia...) specifically, GPL, Mozilla Licence, Java licensing terms, <list_any_other> and their effect on a programmer/developer. What licence type allows me to deploy applications "just like that"? 1. Is RedHat opensource? Can I download it and just install on a site (assuming am not interested in their support/subscription package) 2. And what in hell is a "Commercial Opensource" product? Sounds like an oxymoron to me. 3. Does a change in licence type apply to already deployed products? For instance, if Oracle changes the MySQL licence, will it affect the already running instances? Some light on these will be appreciated _______________________________________________ Skunkworks mailing list Skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks Other services @ http://my.co.ke Other lists ------------- Skunkworks announce: http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks-announce Science - http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/science kazi - http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/admin/kazi/general
