I had worked for Aimsoft www.aimsoft.co.ke They actually have a backlink for their clients who are insurance firms in kenya T.Z botswana zambia etc. The systems are based on Unix and few developers exist who can actually do the development to link with the unix systems. Plus they are always on financial woes so the few guys who work there get disappointed and get poached by the same insurance firms who are their clients. We are working with some indian guys to develop http://www.kava.co.ke/ for a local company. The platform will be launched end of this month for the public to access. basically it will provide all the functions you need from your insurance provider including:
- valuation - assessment - claims - reports - etc
watch out for the media launch

Turnkey Africa's insurance software offers that functionality. However most companies (in Kenya) are more interested in buying the agent portal as opposed to the client portal. Guess its more to do with the basic Kenyan IT policy: - You must be seen to be reducing cost. :)

I have a Personal Pension Plan (PPP) with one of them (name withheld) since 2008 and still get report in Excel format. I had to fight to get that in 2012 and they had to go fishing my contributions from bank statement. My account has not reconciled up to today. These organisation are a disaster waiting to happen especially for pension funds that run for a long time.

A good question.
In my knowledge most insurance back office systems are in a mess. Perhaps due to their nature of business.
Anyone in the list working for turnkey africa ( http://www.turnkeyafrica.com/v1/) or http://www.aimsoft.co.ke/ Can tell us why their clients dont want to open up.

Can someone point me to an insurance provider who allows a client to login to a web portal and see the status of their product(s)?
If my SACCO provides such, why not an insurance provider yet both make more or less the same amount of billions per year.
