Ok, I too am on board. We should have ideas on whats needs to be featured on it. Here are my ideas of tech stuff I would skip lunch to watch on tv: 1. Which modem is the better overall 2. Zuku vs DSTV vs SmartTV vs DIY FTA 3. How to get FTA tv DIY style 4. How to be safe on the net, from a paranoia perspective. 5. Interviews of certain C level people e.g. (since I am a programmer), the dude who runs the show @ craft silicon, Paul Mwachi of iSys, Njoroge of Cellulant, Ngigi of AT, Peter Muchemi, Pithon Kamau, <someone else i am forgetting here> on how they manage to make lots of money from code 6. Interviews of certain techie techies, on how to be a better techie; e.g. Kiti Chigiri on how to setup CloudFront for websites, Eugene Mbogo on how to make faster software, the supreme geeks who run the show at Safaricom & Equity data centers, Areba or Bernard or Space dude on how to setup FTA tv (sorry, i really really want to know how to do this), Rad on his experiences all those gazillions of years developing software. 7. And finally, something really real & technical on gaining and preventing un-authorized access to computer stuff :-) 8. ... On Wed, Mar 27, 2013 at 5:35 PM, Bogi Benga <bogibenda@gmail.com> wrote:
@Peter, You dont need to dumb it down.. Just make it palatable to the general audience. make it appealing by revieweing trendy and fascinating stuff. It will also be appealing to corporates in getting to understand social network trends. A pretty face may very well help in this cause :-) This is what a south African channel has done so far and i think they are doing a pretty good job

I am up to this, and able to influence its broadcasting too - so all we need is to put plan into action and move one, otherwise, I will take it as my personal idea and champion it :-) Can we get a team on board and start working!

In response to what @Peter has said, maybe the distribution of the show(s) could be done via other mediums like DVD sets, a Website (buni.tvmaybe or something similar), perhaps a Youtube channel for starters, ftp downloads ......
Schools and other educational institutions can be targeted. That way, you are not implicitly required to dumb-down the material while reaching a substantially large audience all at once.

@Bogi, I can't remember how I came by this information, but this is what I know...
For a show to have marketable appeal to the major media houses, it
needs
to have a large enough potential marketable audience.
And therein lies the catch 22.
For a techie show to have a large audience for make financial sense to the media houses, it needs to be dumbed down. The moment you dumb it down, then it looses its appeal to most geeks since they will consider it, well, to be polite, a waste of time watching.
For example, there is that techísh column in the Nation, written by a dude called Sam, I think. I would most certainly postulate that he is forced to simplify it.
Larry Madowo used to have a very nice techie show, where he was not at liberty to dumb it down, and it was great! But, it was positioned at around mid day, who watches tv at that time really?
Unless of course, media houses are not the distribution medium, in which case the aforementioned catch 22 does not exist.

It is a great i-dea. I'd be up for it.
Ideally there would have to be a direction from
some(one/organization).
I'm to assume its skunks.
Why not get the space and invite us.
