25% import duty + 16% VAT eg. if valued at 10 000 kshs, you will be be asked to pay: 2500 kshs for import duty + 16% of (10,000 + 2,500 kshs) = 2,500 + 2,000 kshs = 4,500 ksh On 1 December 2012 19:34, Jangita Nyagudi <jangita.nyagudi@gmail.com> wrote:
This is good. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually done it. I've realized from this thread that it depends on your negotiation skills :) any input from someone who has brought in a laptop from ebay? and better still is there someone who can do it for me and give me expected costs?

If you use a company like DHL, are there any taxes like the ones Posta levies?
Absolutely. DHL normally work closely with a KRA clearing agent to ensure that all taxes/dutie/levies due are paid. I frequently use DHL.
