I wonder what will happen when a registared use sells his phone and the busser decides never to register.
From what I know,there is nothing more that espionage.Since the concen about wheteher the phone is genuine or fake is mostly of the owner and the manufacturers and not mobile service providers.
Its just a process of creating a database that wil track even phone,regardless of the SIM card used. Nicholas Mmasi.* * *Kinpro Computers.* *Box:*16954,Arusha. *Tel :*+255 732 972287. *Mobile**:* +255 754 914652 *Email: *kinprocomputers@gmail.com

Maybe a quick query here. What happens in the instance that;
original phone - IMEI001 fake phone - IMEI001
or even as Wash mentioned that there are people who can change the IMEI
1. can 2 phones with the same IMEI can work on the same network? 2. which phone shall be deemed fake?

Dear all,
The 1555 is to check whether your phone is genuine or fake not about phone is registered or not. It does this by querying the GSMA database.

That doesn't make sense, who said phones be registered? I thought it was sim cards that were being registered. What happens to devices we buy online? On Jun 28, 2012 6:18 PM, "Solomon Mb?r? Kamau" <solo.mburu@gmail.com> wrote:
Apologies for cross posting.
I've just heard on Radio, Mr. Wangusi urging the public to check whether the mobile phone they are using is registered.
One needs to check the IMEI number by dialling *#06# then send the IMEI number to 1555.
Your service provider should give you the response appertaining to the status of your phone.
I've checked mine, and it's registered.
At least I know come September 30th, my phone will not be switched off.
Regards,
Solomon
