Again most people when they started offering metro Ethernet services went the "kienyeji way". Very few guys start off with scalability in mind, no plan , no documentation etc so something like this even when foreseen is left unresolved.
If the issue is Vlans' related it means interesting things are happening at the core. It won't get any easier without them investing some or if they are lucky they have a responsive vendor. This is a public listed company so tough on their share prices too if this gets picked up by the media.
apart from a full rebuild and mass migrations I don't see how this will be resolved. A bandaid might work but soon this issue will recur. Just bloody move. Or form a proper lobbying body, or look for one that exists to help get recompense. Again .. You get what you pay for. Move to safaricom, a bit expensive but well things work on their metro Ethernet service. Jtl is also a good option that I know works and at least has the wherewithal to work on their issues.
And yes I think I see a bunch of scalable network design classes coming up.
Disclaimer. I have no idea what the issue is. Like everyone else I'm just throwing words around. Hopefully someone from ak can throw in some details for us to chew on.

What is upsetting is that the service is deteriorating day by day. From last week to today, I don't think anyone at AK has had a stable connection. Worse is when you have a whole day outage like yesterday/
When you hear that 'our VLANs' has issues, then you know you are in trouble for the long haul. if last week was a 'fibre-cut', this week is 'VLAN has issues' and next week it is something else, what do you think most IT Managers will think? Incompetence.
AccessKenya needs to fix these issues quickly or risk losing a lot of business.
