For me there is no excuse for not exercising and more especially given the kind of work we do. Most of us work for long hours and adopt very poor eating habits. 5 years ago I decide to change my lifestyle in various ways. I make sure I exercise at least 3 times a week and for me I do it in the morning. I usually leave home at around 5.45AM and go straight to a club play a game of squash from around 6.00AM to 7.15Am and then take a shower and go to work.

To me this saves me the morning traffic hustles and by the time i get in office I'm fresh and ready to work for 8-9 hours non-stop. I prefer carrying packed lunch and can work the whole day without even a lunch break. Try doing it in the morning and you'll never regret.

Gud thoughts, I once worked somewhere [the source better b anonymous], for 8 months. When I quit, I had a serious back problem!

As yet, am still working in a seated position, 8 hours working days, 5 days a week!! Those are so many hours in a week!! Mayb its the nature of the jobs we do, nothing much we can do to change!

Hi,

As techies we spend many hours a day glued to our seats working at our various devices. And if you multiply your daily sitting time by the possible number of years in your career, it is a long long time spent sitting. Needless to say, this sedentary lifestyle is bad for a techie's health and doctors everywhere are telling desk workers to adopt a more active lifestyle to prevent the development of a whole bunch of diseases.

For how long do you sit at one stretch? Is all the sitting taking a toll on your body? Does company management encourage you to stay fit? What do you do to keep active during working hours? Thoughts?
