I happened to stumble upon Google's latest app, Spaces, aims to simplify group sharing. 

Having played around with it a bit -  looks pretty darn simple and powerful . Great concept - I could actually see using this a lot. 

I must admit to a little head-scratching at first, because it initially there seemed to me to be some G+ overlap here. But after playing with a bit, it's clear that this is something more akin to some mashup between Google Groups functionality and a bit of Google+ look and feel. This is going to be great for document sharing of Google Docs. 

I have created a test skunkworks group for a few early adopters to join and see how this works in a groups setting.
