There is Lojack for Laptops. The Lojack system is unbuilt in the BIOS by most computer manufacturers. But you have to buy the software and pay annual fees to track your laptop. If stolen, you can then format it. In most cases you can also recover it even if it is formatted. But there is also Find My Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod all in the iCloud. @amarjit That trick is possible only if telnet service was enabled & a dyndns service was installed on the laptop prior to theft. Prey or Logmein are also good alternatives
