I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my Dell Optiplex 755 desktop. The wired connection shows that it is connected but I cannot access the internet. I have tried removing the resolv.conf package and enable NetworkManager but it still refuses to work. I am now stressed since I need this connection to work for some project I am working on. 

Any help towards solving this problem will be greatly appreciated.
